The Puhinui Reserve

The Reserve is owned by the Auckland Council, has been home to Horse Trials, conducted by Eventing Auckland since December 1994.

The Reserve consists of 199 hectares of rural landscape. The Puhinui Reserve occupies the southern portion of the Puhinui Peninsula. It forms a major component of the Gateway Heritage area of Manukau and has considerable historic, conservation and cultural amenity value. The reserve forms part of the extensive Matukuturua volcanic field and is linked with pre-European settlements centred around Wiri Mountain and Matukutura (McLaughlins Mountain).

Visitors can experience the pleasure of both rural countryside and views of Manukau Harbour.
The reserve is a popular destination for walking, tramping and mountain biking.
