The committee were delighted to receive positive feedback about the success of Puhinui 2013, including this from Melissa and Francesca:
GRAYLING VICTORIOUS AT PUHINUI
GRAYLING SHINES ON A TESTING CROSS COUNTRY
Matthew Grayling has a good grip on the title at the Puhinui International 3 Day Event in the Honda NZ CCI3*, but this sport has a reputation of being unforgiving and there is still a day to go before the trophies are given out. Grayling, riding Henton Executive, is 12 penalty points ahead of Kelsey Rotheray on The Felon and 21.6 points ahead of Dannie Lodder on Moochi

INTERNATIONAL EVENTING STARS AT PUHINUI
The appearance of our most famous international eventer will add a real shine to this year’s Puhinui 3 Day Event. The World No 1 ranked Eventing Rider, Andrew Nicholson, will be attending the Manukau event – his first appearance at a New Zealand horse trial for well over ten years. Fresh from a huge and successful season on the European circuit, Andrew will be at Puhinui Reserve on Thursday afternoon for the trot up (vet inspection) and all day Friday, the first day of the competition.
RESULTS OF THE ONE DAY EVENT CLASSES AT 2012 PUHINUI
While the FEI CCI (three day event) classes were going on, there was also a lot of action with other classes for less experienced horses.
In the Horse & Pony CCNPN 3 day event class, Cherie Jaques and Tobinator just squeaked in front of Zoie Gray on FIS Overcast to take out the win. Rosa Rieger and Kaitai were in 3rd ahead of Monica Oakley on Saltador. Cantabrian Kirsty Sharapoff was 5th.
MCKINSTRY TAKES OUT PUHINUI 2012
Ashleigh Mckinstry isn’t perhaps your typical 20 year old, but she has managed to win one of New Zealand’s premier eventing titles, the Puhinui CCI*** with her part Kaimanawa home bred horse, Pioneer Makokomiko. The pig-hunting, horse-shoeing country girl put in a performance none of the older competitors could match.
POPULAR WIN IN HONDA NZ CCI**
CLARKE JOHNSTONE WINS PUHINUI CCI*
A wonderful riding demonstration from Clarke Johnstone on Vincent saw the handsome combination take out the CCI* this afternoon at Puhinui.
“I am very happy with the horse, he went really well on all three phases and I’m thrilled.” Clarke has ridden the horse for the past four weeks since returning to New Zealand.

PUHINUI PROMISES PLENTY OF ACTION
Puhinui 3 Day entries have now closed, and looking at the entry list, its shaping up to be a tough competition!
Christen Hayde will be back on Tandarra Sweet As to defend her title in the CCI***. She will be up against some excellent competition including the recent National ODE winner, Donna Smith on Just Chocolate. South Islander, Annabel Wigley will also be hoping for a good result with her two entries in the CCI***.
