Joint Venture Brings 'Cream' of Jumping Stallion Stock to New Zealand Breeders
One of Ireland's pre-eminent jumping stallions, Ricardo Z, will soon be making his mark in New Zealand equestrian sport thanks to a new joint venture forged between Patumahoe-based Everton Lodge Farm and Cambridge-based equine health services firm Equibreed.
The new enterprise, to be officially launched at the upcoming Manukau City Puhinui 3 Day Horse Trial (March 13-16), aims to lift the profile of quality jumping stallions for New Zealand breeders.
Coinciding with the launch will be awarding a service (valued at over $2,500) to the winner of the Event's inaugural The Breeders' Puhinui Young Event Horse Class.
According to Everton Lodge Farm director Julie Butson - the New Zealand agents for Ricardo Z and stable mate Lux Z - Equibreed have chosen the Irish stallion to launch up this new phase of equine breeding in New Zealand.
Ricardo Z stands at the famous Kedrah House Stud in Ireland and has left numerous proven eventing stock all over Europe. We're delighted to be working with Equibreed and can think of no better place to launch this programme that at Puhinui's Young Event Horse Class.
We commend the hard work that the committee has put into reestablishing this event and this Young Event Horse Class provides our businesses with a platform to promote and establish our new stallion.
The Breeders' Young Event Horse Class at the Puhunui Horse Trial is great for the young horses to gain confidence and to get recognised. Breeders will love it too! We want to see our stock out doing well especially when so much goes into breeding programmes aiming to produce the very best. This type of event is an early test of progress and ongoing success.
Alongside Equibreed we can continue to offer the New Zealand eventing market a specialized stallion of proven nature to our local market. Equibreed are the experts in their field and when you import semen of this nature or quality we want breeders to give their mares the very best chance of conception. "This is where Equibreed are exceptional," she said.
The prize for the Young Event Horse Class has a value of over $2500.00 and includes a service fee to Ricardo Z and an EQUIBREED services voucher as a prize pool offering to the winner of the class.
