The CompetitionThe three day event is the equestrian equivalent of the triathlon-the most demanding competition in all branches of equitation. Dressage, cross-country, and show jumping are carried out over three consecutive days. Day 1 Friday is devoted to dressage where horse and rider compete on suppleness, skill, obedience and accuracy as the combinations work through a series of moves in a defined area. Day 2 Saturday is the test of the horse and rider speed and endurance via the cross country phase of the event. Day 3 The Central Arena is the venue for the final day of competition and the show jumping. Again, this is a test of fitness and endurance as well as a measure of the horse’s recovery after the exertions of the cross country. | ||
